Rob Lorenzini, Ph.D., to present paper at SPE Polyolefins Conference

Maroon Group, a world-class distributor of specialty chemicals and ingredients across North America, is proud to announce Rob Lorenzini, Ph.D., is presenting a paper during SPE International Polyolefins Conference titled, “Novel Methylated and N-Alkoxy Hindered Amine Stabilizers for Polyolefins.” This technical talk will take place on February 26 at 11 a.m., Salon A – Polymer Modifiers and Additives, in the Hilton Greenspoint Houston hotel.

Title: Novel Methylated and N-Alkoxy Hindered Amine Stabilizers for Polyolefins

Abstract: Herein, two novel hindered amine stabilizers (HAS) are formally introduced to the North American Polyolefin market. The first, a methylated oligomeric HAS, is demonstrated in the artificial and natural weathering, as well as long-term heat aging, of various polyolefin films and thin sections. Particular attention is paid to data generated in the presence of acidic species and pesticides, showing how methylated HAS resist deactivation and therefore improve polyolefin article service lives better than their more basic N-H HAS analogues. The second, an oligomeric n-alkoxy HAS, shows clear performance benefits in the presence of acidic species over methylated HAS. These two materials are recommended for use in plasticulture, artificial turf, and halogenated flame retardant applications, among others.

About Rob Lorenzini, Ph.D.
Dr. Rob Lorenzini earned a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from NYU Tandon School of Engineering (formerly Brooklyn Polytechnic) and a Ph.D. in Polymer Chemistry from the University of Connecticut. He conducted his post-doctoral work at Cytec as a research scientist and studied ultraviolet absorbers and stabilizers, and was shortly promoted to Technical Service Manager in which he ran all global technical service projects. As Technology Manger at Maroon Group, Rob provides technical support to the sales team and customers. His responsibilities also entail regular interface with Principals on all aspects of current and future technology platforms.
